What is life insurance for?
I know car insurance means the government pays the money for your repairs if you have an accident so you don’t have to reach into your own account, same with medical insurance in all its forms (dental, etc), but I wonder what life insurance is for. I guess it serves as an inheritance for the relatives (via birth, marriage) of the deceased in the event that person dies and the survivors collect a lot of debt in terms of having to pay for funeral services and their house notes and bills. I don’t know. I’m just guessing. I see lots of insurance TV commericals. I’m 24 so I was just a little curious. It seems to me like life insurance advertising is mostly directed toward spouses and parents. That further does make me feel life insurance is kind of an inheritance from the government in case someone dies with dependents so those other relatives under the care of the deceased have money to eat and clothe.”
What are the risks of getting cheaper auto insurance using friends/work address?
Getting a car insured in Hoboken is very expensive ($750 for 6 months). Some of my friends use their friends address (Say Edison address) and get much cheaper quotes. What are the risks in doing this? My friend also had a claim with no problems (but it was a minor claim). Please advise?

Can anyone recommend good a rental Insurance for California?

Need advice on a life insurance policy for my parents.?
My parents are 67 and 57, and despite being the youngest of 6 children, I am somehowed as the most responsible. I have power of attorney over their estates. They trust me more than each other or any of their other children, because they know that I don’t care about money for myself. I believe my parents have life insurance policies on themselves, but with the way they manage their finances the policies may very well have lapsed. I would like to open policies on both of them myself. I would like to get coverage for not only death but any life-threatening incidents so I can pick up the slack for them if their coverage is insufficient or doesn’t kick in. I already have a policy on myself for $500,000, and I pay only $30/month. I’m sure that it’ll be much more expensive for my parents, but this responsibility falls to me. My father is in poor health and probably won’t make it another 5 years. When that happens I want to be able to pay off his house and any remaining debt, put on a nice funeral, and make sure that my mom has a financial buffer for retirement. Any advice on bringing up the issue of mortality with my parents, and getting their consent? Also, is there anything that I should know about policies for older people?”
High insurance rates for old luxury cars?
I’m looking to buy my first car and have my eyes and this cheap old BMW (1997–2002 don’t know the exact year). Would the insurance cost me more than it would for other car brands like Toyota or Honda from similar years?

I can’t help wondering who is going to pay the Doctors when everyone is paying for affordable insurance ?
And there are safety nets for drugs costing 100s of dollars and hospitals that cost billions of dollars to run. Who is going to pay for it? Seriously. The ACA? The small amount of money the Insurance companies collect because I assure you it’s much less than the Cadillac Plans of yesteryear
“Conservatives, what is your overall opinion on insurance companies?”
Particularly: a.) Insurance companies that practice rescission in which a person who has paid into the insurance fund is subsquently denied what he has paid for because the insurance company comes up with an arbitrary reason for denying the needed coverage. b.) Rationing. How do you feel about insurance companies who decide if a procedure is in their best interest and deny to someone a life-saving procedure because it isn’t profitable to them in the long run? c.) Denials. Someone who works and wants health insurance and does not qualify for state aid because he actually works for a living and pulls his own weight, but can’t find a job with benefits (increasingly common, and why are employers expected to foot the bill for insurance as they don’t pay for your car insurance or renter’s insurance and this limits job mobility and the ability to start small businesses), and is either outright denied or charged more than his monthly salary? d.) Do you think that if rent, clothing and food cost as much as monthly premiums for people with pre-existing conditions, that we would be in serious trouble? e.) How do you feel about people who had the misfortune to be born with a genetic pre-disposition to an illness, i.e., breast cancer, ovarian cancer, Crohn’s Disease, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, MS, Alzheimer’s, haemophilia, etc. f.) Do you think that an emergency room qualifies as part of preventive, ongoing treatment or that it’s not cost effective for sick people to wait until they are at the worst stage to get necessary treatment? g.) Can you explain how several nations, in fact the overwhelming majority, that have universal health care have still remained free, capitalist, prosperous nations, i.e., Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Norway, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Japan, Israel, Singapore, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Finland…..they didn’t go communist, and the people do not live in gulag states.”
