I’ll be going versus the grain here and say that Pain deliberately waited for May Guy to leave in the past assaulting the town
Every response so far has actually reasoned that Pain>> X>> May Guy. I think a direct comparison shows that Guy has unique benefits in this match-up. If Person had 6 gates open he would have the ability to get 4 of 6 Pains near instantly. Presuming in this scenario he changed locations with Naruto he would have:
- Katsuyu’s intel.
- Deva Course on cooldown after obliterating the village
- Possible assistance from the village against animal path’s summons.
Asura Path: Mechanized Puppeteer with Missiles
This pain is fatal when used in combination with Deva Path’s universal pull. Asura path will ruin shinobi who are weak against taijutsu; clearly, this isn’t the case with May Man. I will say that this is one of the weaker pains. He is more suited towards killing users of long-range ninjutsu or those with lower chakra reserves. This Pain eliminated Kakashi since 1) nobody understood much about Pain’s capabilities at this point and 2) Asura path’s durability allowed him to outlive Kakashi’s naturally low chakra reserves. Kakashi loses due to the fact that he does not have stamina/chakra that Naruto has.
Although powerful, after Naruto attains Sage Mode his taijutsu is still inferior to Might Person’s. Might Man doesn’t have a time frame either. With Man, the match-up would look more like:
Human Course: Reads minds by ripping their soul out of an individual’s body
As useful as this capability is for gathering intel, Nagato hardly ever uses this path in fight. I believe Pain will probably usage the Human Course as a sacrificial piece to preserve the Naraka course. Without a defensive ability, Human Course will be squashed.
Preta Path: Absorbs chakra and all forms of ninjutsu
Preta Path is near unbeatable versus 99%of shinobi. Think about the sheer number of pure ninjutsu users that are made useless because of this person. Preta Path forces shinobi to abandon their ninjutsu and switch to taijutsu or genjutsu and after that are clobbered by Asura Course’s puppeteering prowess. I can’t worry simply how dominating this person is; and yet, he is entirely useless against the supreme taijutsu master. He will be stomped in an instant.
Naraka Path: Questions opponents and resurrects fallen allies.
Naraka Course summons what is called “The King of Hell”, a gateway with the ability to steal the souls of those who lie and rejuvenate any Pains that have been ruined. For this reason, Naraka path is constantly at the back of the formation in order to restore fallen allies. Regrettably, in the match-up versus May Guy, 3 Pains would be downed in the course of a minute. There would be no time for restoring them.
4 down: 2 to go … Okay, here’s where things get tricky. If Guy is going to lose to Discomfort, its going to be due to the fact that of these people however I think its clear at this moment that Discomfort has an extreme weakness to Kage level taijutsu. Remember, its not the power level that matters, its the match-up. At six gates, Guy can move quicker than Pain’s response time and provide destructive blows in fast succession. This nullifies the benefit offered to the rinnegan’s linked vision. Discomfort merely can not evade blows that he either can’t see or can’t react to. This is a HUGE advantage for Guy!
Guy is more than strong enough to one shot the 4 pains that I discussed above. If you have any doubts, view Man’s final battle versus Kisame which spliced together has to do with 2 minutes long.
Animal Course: Summons never-ceasing beasts to eliminate for him
Animal Path has a clear advantage versus Man. He can summon wave after wave of OP never-ceasing beasts to occupy Person’s time while Deva Course is recharging his capabilities. I think this is where Discomfort has the best edge in the match-up; it would be foolish of him not to take advantage of this. If Deva Path is permitted to charge then the possibilities of Man winning versus Nagato at the end would crater from 99%to about 20%. As for Guy’s strategy, he would likely use Early morning Peacock on the summons, open the 7th gate, and then kick Animal Course in the back of the head.
Deva Path: manipulates gravity to push/pull objects and people
Deva Path has actually been on cooldown for the majority of the battle. He is quickly the most flexible and powerful of the Discomforts. Assuming that Guy does not bash him into the ground before he’s charged, this will be Discomfort’s one shot to protect victory. He has 3 courses to triumph. 1) He provides an almighty push powerful sufficient to incapicitate Guy. 2) Pain is required to utilize Chibaku Tensei. 3) Might Guy opens the 8th gate and passes away from his injuries prior to he can face Nagato in the forest. # 2 is the most likely. This is why I give Tendo an 80%of beating Person upon restoring his abilities.
To be clear, I am not some Man fanboy. He’s certainly not my favorite character. I just think the Rinnegan is gimmicky and does not hold water against a taijutsu user of Man’s quality. Like Itachi stated to Sasuke when battling Kabuto, “every jutsu has a weak point”. The six paths strategy is no different.
In the show there are a big handful of jonin that I would think about “Kage tier”. Any shinobi of Kage quality can beat another if the match-up is. The only exceptions are when you get to the God-tier at the end of FGNW. God-tier shinobi such as Madara, Obito, Hashirama, etc. don’t have weaknesses and thus it becomes a matter of X>> Y>> Z.
Feel free to argue in the comments.:D
